Book a Muktinath Tour and visit Muktinath temple in Mustang- the temple of salvation with other holiest Hindu temples and shrines located in Kathmandu.

The major highlight of our 6 Days Muktinath Tour is visiting the temple of Mokshya, located in the Mustang region of Nepal. You will arrive in Kathmandu and enjoy sightseeing tours of the holiest Hindu shrine, “Pashupatinath temple.” Pashupatinath temple is located on the bank of the Bagmati River. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is often known as the “abode of Shiva.” Only Hindus are permitted to enter the temple complex for worship; others can go to another side of the temple to see Hindu people’s rituals and morning activities.

You will also witness the rare funeral ceremony as per Hindu traditions at cremation ghats on the bank of the holy river Bagmati. If you are Hindu, you can go inside the temple and have the Lord Shiva darshan in the form of the four-face (Chaturmukha) linga.

You will also cover some of the Buddhist stupas which show the religious harmony in Nepal. Hindus and Buddhists in Nepal share as temples or stupas to pay homage to the gods. It is a rare example of the harmony between two religions. You will also visit the Boudhnath stupa, which is the best place to see Tibetan Buddhism and one of the largest Buddhist stupas of its kind.

The next day you will drive to Pokhara by visiting the Manakamana temple en route. Manakamana means temple of wish-fulfilling Goddess. You will visit this temple by cable car. In Pokhara, you will witness the natural beauty of Himalayan views and snow-fed lakes. Pokhara is also known as Himalayan Shangr-la and is one of the best places for relaxation. Pokhara Valley is a gateway for trekking in the Annapurna area and a base for Muktinath excursions.

The highlight of our 6 Days Muktinath Tour is the holiest Vishnu temple in the Mustang region of Nepal at an altitude of 3800 meters. Hindus call the site Mukti Kshetra, which means the “place of salvation,” It is one of the most ancient temples of the God Vishnu and the Vaishnava tradition in Nepal. The shrine is considered to be one of the eight sacred places known as Svayam Vyakta Ksetras (the other seven being Srirangam, Srimushnam, Tirupati, Naimisharanya, Totadri, Pushkar, and Badrinath), as well as one of the 108 Divya Desam, or holy places of worship of Lord Vishnu. Additionally, it is also one of the 51 Shakti Pitha goddess sites.

The small temple contains a human-sized golden statue of Vishnu as Shri Mukti Narayana. In addition to Mukti Narayana, the temple has bronze images of Bhoodevi (the Earth-goddess form of Lakshmi), the goddesses Saraswati and Janaki (Sita), Garuda (the mount of Vishnu), Lava-Kusa (the sons of Rama and Sita) and the Sapta Rishis (Seven Sages created by Lord Brahma).

Behind the temple is a semi-circular wall with 108 stone faucets at seven feet. The faucets all have the exact shape of a bull’s head and are separated by approximately one foot. Water from the ice-cold Kali Gantaki River has been diverted to flow through the mouths of these bulls, and hardy pilgrims who visit the temple often stand beneath each spout.

The Kali Gantaki riverbed downstream from Muktinath is the sole source of the rare Shaligram stones required to establish a temple of Vishnu anywhere in the world.

Muktinath temple is equally crucial for Buddhist followers. You might be amazed to know that the priest at Muktinath temple is Buddhist, and this sets a perfect example of the respect and care of both the Hindu and Buddhist religions in Nepal.
