Tsum Valley – “Hidden valley” is located in the norther part of Gorkha against majestic backdrop of Ganesh Himal, Sringi Himal and Boudha Himalayan range. This area is rich on ancient arts, culture, religion and traditional lifestyle. The local people are Tibetan origin and have unique dialect. Due to restricted tourism approach, the whole Tsum area have preserved its unique heritage. This trekking trail was opened by Nepal Government from 2o08 for foreign travelers. The valley is drained by the Shear Khola, which originates from the western glacier of Ganesh Himal and east and southern glaciers of Sringi Himal and meets the Budhi Gandaki at Nyak.
Tsum Valley is known as the Beyul Kyimolung, the holy hidden valley of happiness first described by Guru Rimpoche (Padmasambhava) in the eighth century. Milarepa meditated in the caves of Piren Phu and there are centuries old nunneries. The trekking trail are dotted with artistic Buddhist Chortens, Mani, Carved walls and stone slabs with inscribed Buddhist prayers. Tsum Valley has long history of Buddhism.

Many people combine the Tsum Valley Trekking with the Manaslu Circuit starting in Arughat Bazaar and ending in Besisahar. Besisahar is also the starting point for the Annapurna circuit. The trail starts low, passing through lush green countryside and small Hindu villages. You enter Tsum Valley from the main trail and will soon find yourself in beautiful pine and rhododendron forests. Heading east the valley opens up to reveal beautiful landscapes and small Tibetan-style villages.
